Grey Skies Can Make You Smile

My art is a reflection of the world as I see it—capturing the beauty, chaos, and quiet moments of everyday life. Inspiration comes from the ordinary, the overlooked, and the fleeting, transforming into something personal and expressive. Through this blog, I invite you to see the world through my eyes, and to understand the journey behind each piece I create.

This morning I made my way to the beach, Theo and Miller my trusty dog companions in tow. It was cold and grey, so I was planning to rush to the sea and hurry home to the warm “Canal House” for coffee before David was even awake and out of bed. Alone time.

The first thing I noticed was I had the ocean to myself. Hardly any of the sunrise shell seekers were out stooped over the surf stealing my shells. On the other hand, the birds were out in full force and I spied 3 Brown Pelicans floating in the surf very close to shore. I stopped the walk and the dogs sensing another Mom’s mediation period, quietly slowed and sat patiently. They are used to me watching the waves, sunrise, and the horizon. As I stood there, I spotted two dolphins bobbing through the waves. I couldn’t help but squeal with joy and just like I had been told by others, but didn’t believe, the show began. The dolphins rode the surf, chased fish, and harassed the Pelicans driving them from spot to spot. It lasted a good quarter of an hour. I loved my private show as other walkers seemed oblivious to the antics in the sea. I can’t wait for my next grey, cold beach day.
